Mr. Tom and I got to go to a little dinner party that my sister hosted, in her garden.
Lucky us!!!
She's a wonderful hostess and spoils us royally.
We had artichoke and tomato bread puffs for a starter.
Then, she lavished us with a selection of gourmet cheeses from the new wine and cheese shop in town.
Then, for the main course, we had:
~ roast chicken with bread, plum and herb stuffing and a white wine gravy.
~ roasted rosemary new potatoes.
~ string beans from her garden
~ salad with blueberries and goat cheese with a poppy seed dressing.
It was simple and wonderfully flavorful goodness! All this to the enveloping sound of the crickets.
(I do love those crickets!!!)
Then, it started to rain and we moved inside.
Inside, where we had chocolate raspberry coffee and panna cotta with blueberries and strawberries.
The sights and sounds were soft and gentle and, oh, so pleasant. They still fill my mind - even now.
Thank you, Suzy!

P.S. Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words in regards to my new blog, Katy Noelle's Photo Journal. I was so nervous to let anyone even know about it. I needed the encouragement of my friends and I got it! I am so grateful.
Love, Me xxo

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, romantic evening. Everything looks like it was delicious and absolutely perfect. The purple transferware is a favorite. How nice to be spoiled! I'm off to check out your new blog. I must have missed that memo! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteJust wow! What a heavenly place and a gourmet meal. I would love to be so talented.
ReplyDeleteYou're invited to link up with my Simple Pleasures series some Thursday.
Dearest Katy Noelle,
ReplyDeleteOh what a DEAR sister you have! That sounds like being in heaven; never mind the late interruption by rain... Nothing could have spoiled something like this!
So count your blessings and frame this memory into your heart forever for days that you might need it. Hearts are still the best places to keep those memories. All the electronics cannot match that!
Greetings with sun from Georgia,

The dinner was a great way to say good-by to summer! Dinner in the garden, with light rain sending you in for dessert.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to spend your time -- with family and friends and good food. Everything sounds divine. Best wishes, Tammy

Dearest Katy, How delightful all of this looks and sounds and I am sure that the dinner - so many courses - was positively delicious. One of the great joys of summer is to be able to eat outside and I am only sorry that towards the end of dinner it started to rain. That seems very typical of British summer weather.
ReplyDeleteA perfect evening, lovingly prepared! Thank you for sharing the charming design. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are outstanding. The food looks wonderful and the dishes are beautiful. I like your blog.

I tried to comment about this last night, and my computer was being all PMSy. Your sister is QUITE the hostess! I'm impressed all the way around.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely call this a simple pleasure, too! (Simple for the guests...pleasurable for all... giggle.)
Wow, what a wonderful dinner party, seems more than a simple pleasure to me, but what a true blessing.

OMG, Katy...your Vermont town just happens to be my hometown! Now if you tell me you live in my previous home (corner of Grafton & High)I don't know what I would do! I am trying to figure out where the cheese shop is, it has to be near The Green, I am guessing...their were no street numbers years ago, everyone knew where everyone lived!
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteGod bless,

How lucky you are to have such a talented sister! The table is just beautiful, and I love her purple transferware -- so pretty!

ReplyDeleteMy dear Katy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasure it is for me to read what you are writing, view our photographs, and hear how wonderfully your sister puts together an enchanted evening.
Your appreciation is a gift to us both.
I am such a proud father!!!! You both thrill me with your creativity and generosity.
Your mom and I cannot wait to see you in September. Greet Tom, hug the boys, and say "Hi" to Mom Doris and to Mark.
Keep it up! You and Suzy touch us deeply.
Dad
Dear Katy
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Roast chicken is one of my favourite dishes and the stuffing sounds delicious. You cannot beat eating outside in the garden on a warm summer evening - alas summer seems to have left us here in the UK and the evenings are turning cool - certainly no sound of crickets for us!
