I have a little beautiful book that I like to read called, The Yearbook of Comfort and Joy, which is by Celia Haddon.
It's supposed to be a daily ritual but I really just like to read it in huge, big swaths.
She says:
My friends,... sent me a card with this message.
When I can do this, troubles no longer trouble me.
What does the card say?
Look backward with gratitude.
Look onward with hope.
Look upward with confidence.
What a lovely thing to do in the New Year!
Love, Katy Noelle
Hi Dear-
ReplyDeletejust a few minutes ago, I left a comment in your last post :-))
I love those daily things. My husband bought me for our wedding day a calendar with such lovely comments. I love it, to read a new message every morning.
Enjoy that book!
A big hug to you far, far away :-)
Ines♥
A perfect thing to do.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katy, and Happy New Year!
XO,
Sheila...who has a lantern/hurricane shade similar to the one pictured there! :-)
Have a lovely New Year filled with hope and confidence!♥

Happy New Year - beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteSo, so perfect. May the year find you blessed beyond measure.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kathy Noelle,
ReplyDeletePerfectly selected words for this time of year!
Did you already check out my Worldwide Giveaway for a 925/000 Silver Angel? That is on January 3rd's post. Today is my Papa's 90th Birthday in The Netherlands. Tough for not being there too with all the others but that's the fate of a first generation immigrant. Pieter is still having cardio rehab and the cold icy weather there with lots of snow is not a good thing for going to now. Too much health risks and not quite ready for such long journeys...
Read my post about it today.
Lots of love,
Mariette's Back to Basics
Definitely a lovely thing to do in the New Year! I read your comments on Justine's blog, and I just wanted to say that I truly hope you're feeling better, and that 2011 does indeed fill you with hope, it is a new year after all.

Dear Katy Noelle,
ReplyDeleteA Happy, Healthy New Year to you and your boys! I hope it will be a year full of fun, laughter and friendship. How are you all doing? I hope all is well? Has the mist in your head cleared up a little? It's good that you are reading. It always relaxes me. When I am not reading I am a person that has difficulty sitting down and doing nothing :-).
Such beautiful positive words in your book!
Wish you a lovely day!
Lieve groet, Madelief

all the very best in this New Year.
Hi Katy, Am finally back blogging since my blog design is finished just in time for the New Year. Terry and I never went to the NE in Sept/Oct. Instead we went North and West, North into Michigan and West into Iowa and those covered bridges of Madison County. Wonderful, spontaneous 8 weeks on the road. Happy New year to you and your family. Hope this year finds you and your family well loved and happy.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a great quote! I will bear that in mind. I also want to share a link which I think you might enjoy (at least I do). Take a look at the site of Ramsign (http://www.ramsign.com). They have some extra ordinary enamel signs.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Love Helen xx
