Life is so generous a giver, but we, judging its gifts by their covering, cast them away as ugly or heavy or hard.
Remove the covering, and you will find beneath it a living splendour, woven of love, by wisdom with power.
Welcome it, grasp it, and you touch the angel's hand that brings it to you.
Everything that we call a trial, a sorrow, or a duty,
Believe me that the angel's hand is there; the gift is there, and the wonder of an overshadowing presence.

Our joys too: be not content with them as joys.
They too conceal diviner gifts.

~Fra Giovanni

This Christmas, I am strongly reminded of how hope has embraced a hurting world.

Love to you all!

  1. Dearest Katy Noelle,

How pretty the last part of your name is in the Christmas season! Noelle is the French word for Christmas so your name has a very special meaning.
Indeed Hope and Love is good medicine and Rehab for our world! But there are still more good people, good stories and good deeds than the bad part. The only thing is that with our media they bring it out as if it were a lot stronger, broader etc.
Therefore we ought to trust our hearts and nourish the Hope of this world.

Have a great Christmas season with your loved ones!

  9. Dear Katy Noelle,

When I see one of your posts popping up, it makes me very Happy :-)! Today's post is beautiful. Your pictures are magical and Fra Giovannis's words match them perfectly.

I hope you and your family are enjoying the time of the year? Vermont must be covered in a layer of snow as well. Rotterdam looks like a picture postcard at the moment. Even my view over the gardens of neighbouring houses and the Christmas tree on the little square between the appartments is magical.

Dear Katy, I wish you and your boys a Merry Christmas with lots of LOVE and FUN!

Veel lieve groetjes & a big hug,

    Madelief xo

  14. I am SO happy that God lead me to your blog! I found you via a comment that you left for Elyse at Cottage.

Your post is beautifu and so very true! I am a witness that God - The Holy Spirit - touches you in times when you need it the most. His presence draped my shoulders in a warm cloak after the loss of our son. That next year we were blessed with yellow butterflies whenever we were thinking of our Jordan. You really need to have your eyes wide open to be aware of the gifts that we are given - in good times and in sad times.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    God Bless you,
    Becky
